"The first references
to Quinta do Vallado date back to 1716. It belonged at
the time to Josefa Taveira. One century later, in 1818
her descendants sold the estate to António Bernardo
Ferreira, the first of the name in the family, uncle and
father in law to Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira.
Quinta do Vallado has since then continued in the
Ferreira family and belongs now to the sixth generation
of the name. It spreads up along both banks of the river
Corgo, close to its mouth in the river Douro.
Quinta do Vallado is one of the leading producers in the
Douro Valley, in terms of the quality of the wines, and
part of the 'Douro Boys' group."
